//Messerschmitt Bf-109E3 Swiss Air Force
////////////////////////////////////////

By Christian Mosimann

After evaluation tests with the Bf-109D in 1938 the Swiss Air Force chosed the
Bf-109E as her main fighter plane. 89 fighters (J-311 - J-399) where on duty
during the whole WWII until 1948.
In June 1940, first strong encounters with the German Luftwaffe proved the
good choice. The violation of neutral airspace by German bombers on bombing-
missions to France and the following Swiss defence actions made Herrmann
Goering angry: Various quarrels at the border to France and Germany with
Bf-109 and Bf-110 followed, until political efforts ended the little fight.
During WWII, the Swiss fighters lost 4 aircraft - but forced 251 stranger
planes (German, Italian, US and Britisch) to land, with 58 of them shot down.
In 1948 the whole Messerschmitt-Story in Switzerland had an end. One plane
has survived at the museum at Duebendorf.

I regret that it is only possible to fight single-player missions against
Allied planes - but Multiplayer-Dogfights over the Rhine are fun!
The plane was designed from pictures of the Schweizer Luftwaffe Museum
Duebendorf and its book about the history of Swiss military aircraft.
Put the files in your EAW-directory and enjoy the new colors. The *v.tpc file
gives you the Swiss cross in virtua cockpit mode, but don't be disturbed by
the german cross on the wings shown in normal view...and the J-311 is mirrored
at the right side, I know! But without numbers it looks unfinished.
